Safety doesn't just happen by accident.
As the police department has grown over the past 45 years, or so, Oro Valley continues to be recognized as one of the safest places to live, work and visit. The police department followed informal community policing techniques for about the first 25 years that were developed into formalized strategies supporting a town-wide philosophy which includes all town departments and stakeholders. From three officers to over 100 officers (plus support staff) to provide full police protection and related services, there have been many challenges that have been met and addressed. In doing so, the OVPD has maintained an outstanding reputation for providing for the safety of over 45,000 residents who call Oro Valley home today.
